Frank Ocean Drops Out Of Coachella’s Second Weekend Following A Much-Talked-About, Controversial First Weekend Set

After a much-talked-about, controversial first weekend set, Frank Ocean will not perform as a headliner during the second weekend of Coachella 2023 on Sunday. The Grammy award-winning musician announced that he has decided to drop out due to a leg injury.

“After suffering an injury to his leg on festival grounds in the week leading up to weekend 1, Frank Ocean was unable to perform the intended show but was still intent on performing, and in 72 hours, the show was reworked out of necessity,” Ocean’s representatives told Entertainment Weekly. “On doctor’s advice, [the] artist is not able to perform weekend 2 due to two fractures and a sprain in his left leg.”

Ocean also released another statement, saying “there is some beauty in chaos.”

“It isn’t what I intended to show, but I did enjoy being out there and I’ll see you,” he said according to EW.

The 35-year-old singer performed at the first weekend of the festival, but many fans said they were disappointed because his set wasn’t available on the YouTube stream.

“Guys, I’m being told it’s curfew, so that’s the end of the show,” Ocean said before ending his show according to Pitchfork . “Thank you so much.”

Ocean was originally planning to perform at Coachella in 2020. But the show was canceled for two years due to the pandemic. The event’s co-founder, Paul Tollett revealed in 2021 that Ocean would headline the 2023 festival.

During the first weekend of the festival in Indio, California, Ocean performed reworked versions of songs such as “Novacane,” “Crack Rock,” and “White Ferrari.”
