With Lionel Richie’s musician son, Miles Richie, notably missing from photos of his sister Sofia Richie‘s lavish French nuptials, fans were speculating the worst.
However, the brother-sister duo quickly shut down rift rumors and gave us the reason behind Miles’ absence on Richie’s big day.
While his absence certainly had people talking, a rep for the siblings told TMZ that Miles missed out on his little sister’s special day because of COVID. After feeling under the weather right before the wedding, the COVID test he took came back positive. Per the report, Sofia would have loved for her brother to attend but understands why he couldn’t make it.
“Miles was missed by the family and wedding guests,” the rep reiterated to ET.
The siblings also shut down feud rumors by making it clear it’s all love between the pair with photos posted to their Instagram Stories.
On Wednesday, the 28-year-old musician shared a photo of the new bride and her now-husband Grainge with the caption, “Absolutely obsessed with you two. Love you.”
Sofia reposted the photo to her own account, responding with the caption: “Love you the most.”
Thankfully, their sister, Nicole Richie, was on hand for what was dubbed the “wedding of the year.” Lionel Richie shares Sofia and Miles with ex-wife Diane Alexander, whom he divorced in 2004. The 73-year-old singer and first ex-wife Brenda Harvey took Nicole in at just three years old and legally adopted her when she was nine years old.
The multi-Grammy Award winner shared photos of the special moment he walked his youngest down the aisle with his 1.4 million Instagram followers on Monday.
“My little girl is all grown up and starting her own journey with the love of her life,” Lionel wrote. “You’ll always be my little bird, but I’m so proud of the woman you’ve become. Endless Love to you and Elliot.”
Sofia and Grainge went public with their relationship in April 2021 and announced their engagement a year later. Sofia exclusively gave Vogue an inside look at her four-day wedding affair, which included a fancy rehearsal dinner and a three-fold final wedding dress fitting.
The smitten couple have both publicly expressed their love for one another.
Earlier this month, Grainge gave an interview to the Los Angeles Times where he told reporters in a rare comment that his “happy place is with my girl on the couch binging a TV series where we argue about which episode we’re on.”
“Marry your best friend,” the 24-year-old bride captioned her latest carousel of photos posted on Monday from her extravagant wedding in Antibes.
After Lionel gave his daughter away, the guests watched a fireworks display and danced until sunrise at a “nightclub-themed” afterparty emceed by Nicole. After Lionel took the stage, Joel Madden — Nicole’s husband — even performed with his band, Good Charlotte. All in all, it was a wedding to remember, despite the notable absence.
